Is it true that city employees as a perk are given free pass's to the city pools? My most important question is, I am with the understanding the city employees (fire fighters, police, etc) pay nothing towards there health cost. Meaning they get probably health, dental, and vision coverage for nothing. With the city (taxpayers) picking up the entire cost for the above mentioned. Is it true they get the coverage for nothing? I just set down and looked at my pay stub and I will pay a total of $1500.00 for health insurance alone for myself and my wife. I pay 20% of the total cost, which means my employer pays the other 80% or $7500.00. Lets say the city has 300 employees: 7500.00 plus 1500.00=$9000.00 300 employees times $9000.00= $2,700,000.00 Now lets look at the cost of vision insurance and Dental insurance. I have already looked at the benefits summery, the only thing I can not find for sure is the number of city employees and actual insurance cost. Now take the CoPay of $1500.00 times 300 employees= $450,000.00. That is almost a half million dollars in 1 year. Let them keep their jobs and keep city services, but lets try and recoup that 1/2 million dollars per year. I look forward to your response. GmcJ Albert 115 North Booth St. Dubuque, Iowa 6/13/2003
