Honorable Members:
At their regular meeting on June t0, 2003 the Dubuque County
Democratic Party went on record as supporting good public safety in
the City of Dubuque, and opposes the fudoughing or laying off of
police, firefKjhters, paramedics and dispatchers.
The Central Committee urges the City Manager and the City Council to
use the resources of the reserve pool to continue providing the present
level of service. Unless these funds are so restricted that they cannot
be re-appropriated, we highly encourage the Manager and Council to
use them to cover the present shortfall.
Not only does this have a serious effect on our citizens, but it will put
all tourists at risk too.
