To the Editor of the Telegraph Herald:
I can't believe the City Manager, City Council and Fire Chief believe that three fire engines can cover a City the
size of Dubuque. Engine Company No. 1 at 9th and Central; Engine Company No. 2 on JFK Road; Engine
Company No. 3 at 32nd
and Central Avenue.
Yes folks, with the cuts about to be approved that's what you will have for
fire protection! Imagine 18 square miles some 60,000 in population and the City
governing body wants to annex more.
Dubuque had a larger Fire Department in 1903, when you called the fire department 100 years ago 34 firemen
responded.
