Resignation Letter_James AllanMay 14, 2010 Anthony Allen, Chair Dubuque Human Rights Commission 1300 Main Street Dubuque, IA 52001 Dear Anthony: Thank you for letting me know that the commissioners would welcome my participation by phone when I am unable to attend meetings in person. That is very gratifying. My condition varies with environmental factors, but when it is difficult, as in the last few weeks, breathing becomes such a preoccupation that it is very difficult to think of anything else. So it is not just a matter of being physically present. Since this is a chronic condition, I cannot expect long -range recovery. For that reason, I think it best that the commission have a member able to commit fully to its mission, and I must submit my resignation. The most recent group of commissioners appointed shows that there are plenty of excellent citizens willing to serve. Best wishes to you all and Godspeed.
