additional pipe required, the increased length of the project requires additional
excavation, pipe bedding, backfill material, street base stone, and asphalt.

The cost of the additional materials required and the additional work performed exceeds
the original contract amount' by $85,044.43, 53.7% over the original contract. Seventy
percent (70%) or $519,528.36 of the cost increase was due to the expansion of the
project -the installatibn of the 431 additional feet of 48-inch storm sewer.
Connolly ConstructiSn has completed the project in the final contract amount of
$268,865.75.

ACTION REQUESTE

The project is funde~d from a Fiscal Year 2003 General Fund appropriation in the
amount of $258,000. The balance of the project will be from the General Storm Sewer
RESOLUTION NO. 217-03
ACCEPTING IMPROVEMENT
Whereas, the contract for the West Locust Storm Sewer Addition Project
has been completed and the City Manager has examined the work and filed his
certificate stating that the same has been completed according to the terms of
the contract, plans and specifications and recommends its acceptance.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA:
Section 1. That the recommendation of the City Manager be approved
and that said improvement be and the same is hereby accepted.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Treasurer be and he is hereby
directed to pay to the contractor from the General Fund and the General Storm
Sewer Repair Fund in amount equal to the amount of his contract, less any
retained percentage provided for therein.

RESOLUTION NO. 218-03
FINAL ESTIMATE
Whereas, the contract for the West Locust Storm Sewer Addition Project
has been completed and the City Engineer has submitted his final estimate
showing the cost thereof including the cost of estimates, notices and inspection
and all miscellaneous costs.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA:
Section 1. That the cost of said improvement is hereby determined to
be $277,641.48 and the said amount shall be paid from the General Fund and
the General Storm Sewer Repair Fund of the City of Dubuque, Iowa.
