Dear Michael:
As the 2003 legislative session winds to a close, it is time for the Iowa League of Cities to begin
working on a legislative agenda for the 2004 session. The first step in this process is to convene a
legislative policy committee. We hope you will participate in this committee's efforts to develop
legislative priorities for consideration by the membership at the September annual meeting.
The League's President-elect, Mayor Mary Burton of Polk City, will chair the legislative policy
committee. Two meetings are planned: July 16, 2003 and August 12, 2003, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Both meetings will be at the Living History Farms Conference Center on Hickman Road in
Urbandale. Lunch will be catered by the Machine Shed. The meetings are fairly informal to allow for
free-flowing discussion of issues and formulation of policy objectives.
Prior to the first meeting, a notebook will be sent containing detailed information on proposed
priorities. Directions will also be provided.
Please contact Sara Ringgenberg of the League staff at sarafinegenberg@iowateague.om or (515)
244-7282 to confirm your appointment to this committee and indicate your availability on July 16th
and August 12th. We look forward to working with you!
Sincerely,
Susan Judkins
