INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this memorandum is to inform that the City of Dubuque was awarded a
Mowing to Monarchs grant in the amount of$2500 from Dubuque County.
DISCUSSION
In December of 2020 Steve Fehsal, Park Division Manager applied for a Mowing to
Monarchs grant on behalf of the City of Dubuque. The grant was offered by Dubuque
County and local city governments in Dubuque County were eligible to apply. The
purpose of the grant is an effort to encourage Dubuque County residents, cities, and
county departments to establish pollinator habitat.
One of the City Council goals for 2020-2022 is a Management in Progress goal for
Pollinator Habitat in the Park System. A small steep sloped area in Murphy Park was
chosen for the grant application.
Park Division Manager Steve Fehsal was recently notified by Dubuque County
Conservation that the City was chosen to receive a grant in the amount of $2500. He
will be working with County Conservation to get the pollinator habitat installed this year.
