Ware, Leisure Services Manager SUBJECT: Dubuque County Mowing to Monarchs Grant Approved DATE: February 25, 2021 INTRODUCTION The purpose of this memorandum is to inform that the City of Dubuque was awarded a Mowing to Monarchs grant in the amount of$2500 from Dubuque County. DISCUSSION In December of 2020 Steve Fehsal, Park Division Manager applied for a Mowing to Monarchs grant on behalf of the City of Dubuque. The grant was offered by Dubuque County and local city governments in Dubuque County were eligible to apply. The purpose of the grant is an effort to encourage Dubuque County residents, cities, and county departments to establish pollinator habitat. One of the City Council goals for 2020-2022 is a Management in Progress goal for Pollinator Habitat in the Park System. A small steep sloped area in Murphy Park was chosen for the grant application. Park Division Manager Steve Fehsal was recently notified by Dubuque County Conservation that the City was chosen to receive a grant in the amount of $2500. He will be working with County Conservation to get the pollinator habitat installed this year. ACTION STEP This memo is for informational purposes. Prepared by Steve Fehsal, Park Division Manager
