WHEREAS, the National Animal Care and Control Association has designated the second week of
April each year as Animal Control Officer Appreciation week; and
WHEREAS, the various federal, state, and local government officials throughout the country take this
time to recognize, thank, and commend all Animal Control officers and staff for their
dedicated service they provide to public safety and public service agencies across the
country; and
WHEREAS, City of Dubuque Animal Control officers provide outstanding service, encouraging and
promoting responsible pet ownership on a daily basis to the residents of Dubuque and
its public safety departments; and
WHEREAS, Animal Control officers dedicate many hours of service by going out into the community
to protect the welfare of helpless animals and pets from injury, disease, abuse, and
starvation; and
WHEREAS, the service provided by Animal Control officers is in keeping with the long and
distinguished tradition of the animal control profession .
NOW THEREFORE, I, ROY D. BUOL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, ON BEHALF
OF THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF AND THE CITIZENS OF DUBUQUE, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM
THE 11'"-17th OF APRIL 2021 AS
"NATIONAL ANIMAL CARE AND CONTROL APPRECIATION WEEK"
IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA
