Sisler, Eileen, ltr @ City BudgJuly 13, 2003 Dear Honorable Mayor Duggark And City Cotmcit Members: Since I was unable to attend last Wednesday evening's city eounc/1 meeting, I would l/kc to make a suggestion. In regard to elkminating some city jobs why Not have every city employee pay a small portion ofthek health in$m'ance prermum. Most city employees make a ve~' good wage with excellent benefits. They could well afford to, better than most of us on Social Security, and others Working elsewhere, who have to pay for thek coverage and with no drug allowance. After my husband passed away, my health insurance premiums were paid for slx Months, after wifich I've had to pay for my coverage. I've had to make some life style Change% but I'm getting along. I'm certainly against raising taxes to help. Fve been A tax-payer for 53 years, and with util/fies etc. going up, I, and others can't handle any More. I would ttdnk the city employees would rather pay a sm'all portion ofth~ premiums Than see some dty employejobs elinfinated. I also thknk something could be done with the Key Line Bus operation to make it More ~'ofitable. Most of the buses go by next to empty. Seems l~e the Min/Bus Operation does belter.
