PIROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, the City of Dubuque is a progressive and inclusive community, which celebrates culture
and heritage and supports efforts to ensure everyone has the right to live in conditions
of dignity, respect, and peace; and
WHEREAS, the City of Dubuque strives to offer our citizens a safe community and to put an end to
taunting, bullying, and intolerance; and
WHEREAS, the City of Dubuque advocates for the elimination of all forms of discrimination and
displays a commitment to the equal treatment of all people. We recognize the need for
intersectionality as we work toward social justice as we understand there is no true
equality until there is equity for ALL; and
WHEREAS, the City of Dubuque recognizes the contributions and work done by and through the
nonprofit organization Key City Pride for the betterment of the LGBTQ community in the
city of Dubuque and in celebration of their Inaugural Pride Celebration; and
WHEREAS, this proclamation in and of itself sends a positive message of validation to LGBTQ+
citizens of Dubuque that the City embraces these individuals and their families as a part
of the community.
NOW, THEREFORE, 1, ROY D. BUOL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, ON BEHALF
OF THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF, AND THE CITIZENS OF DUBUQUE, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM
THE WEEK OF JUNE 21-27, 2021 AS
"KEY CITY PRIDE WEEK"
IN DUBUQUE, IOWA AND CALL UPON THE CITIZENS OF DUBUQUE TO OBSERVE THIS
MONTH WITH APPROPRIATE PROGRAMS, ACTIVITIES, AND CEREMONIES IN RECOGNITION
OF OUR CITY'S DIVERSITY.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my
