Schreiber, C. Ltr franchise taxFage ! o1' I Jeanne Schneider From: To: Sent: Subject: "Charlie" <chassch@mchsi.com> <jschneid@cityofdubuque.org> Sunday, July 20. 2003 2:10 PM Franchise tax Mr. Duggau: We urge you to vote against the Franchise tax supported by the city manager. We feel that sooner or liter we. as citizens of Dbq, must realize that we cannot support continually adding taxes. Recently we are being subjected to Ground water taxes. warned titat property tax will go up next year, and we continually must face that revenue just cannot support our budget. If revenue drops as expected, we must then take the steps of reducing the mount of spending, not just raising taxes, it's tough but necessary. We look to you to stem the tide, as we feel confident that you feel as we do. It is difficult to safis~ all the people, but one cannot be held hostage by groups demanding they escape budget cuts. Just a comment about your phone conduct. No one can blame you when you have to talk to irrational, stupid, selfist~ or irate citizens who feel they demand special treatment. More power to you. Don't listen to those idiots. Mary & Charles Scbxeiber 1800 Chaney Road. Dubuque, IA 52001 e mail: ~ha~c_h .~nchhsi_.~com 7/21/2003
