The Jule received four (4) new 29-foot Heavy Duty Gillig buses in the spring of 2020.
These buses replaced four (4) aging and high mileage medium duty buses and are
used on our fixed route service. The buses were purchased with a Bus and Bus
Facilities Grant awarded by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA). The total price of
the 4 buses was $1,582,520. The cost was split 85% federal grant and 15% local
match, making the federal amount paid $1,345,142 and $237,278 paid with City funds.
The Jule received seven (7) new Ford Glaval Universal Gas minibuses in the spring of
2021 to replace seven (7) aging and high mileage minibuses. The first three buses were
purchased in August and the additional four in November of 2020, using local funding
for an average of $89,723 per bus totaling $628,062. These buses are used in our Para
Transit service fleet.
With the resumption of in person City Council meetings, we would like to bring one of
each of the new buses to display in front of the Historic Federal Building at 4:30 PM on
September 7, 2021, to allow Council Members and Citizens an opportunity to explore
these new buses.
