BACKGROUND The 16th & Kerper Peosta Channel Bridge Fiber Collaboration Project is a collaborative effort with Alliant Energy and the City of Dubuque. This collaborative effort involves multiple departments of the City working with Dave Lyons of Greater Dubuque Development Corporation to coordinate with Alliant Energy installing fiber assets. This reduces costs for Alliant Energy and the City since the work is done jointly. This project is one phase of a multi -phase effort that allows Alliant Energy to connect its assets between Madison, WI and Cedar Rapids, IA. DISCUSSION The project consisted of the directional boring and trenching 900 linear feet of a joint package of fiber duct along E. 16t" Street from Kerper Blvd. to the east side of the Peosta Channel Bridge. A joint package duct is when the contractor bores all the conduit in one bore. This particular fiber construction included a fiber package of 7-way Futurepath and (2) 2" for the City and (2) 1.25" for Alliant. Within the bridge, was a (1) 4" that was populated with (1) 1.25" for Alliant and (7) 16/13mm microduct for the City. The 16th & Kerper Peosta Channel Bridge Fiber Collaboration Project was completed by McDermott Excavating of Dubuque, Iowa in the final contract amount of $90,823.13 which is a 3.7% increase from the original contract amount of $87,465.88. The added costs incurred were a result of additional removal and replacement of concrete. Since this is a collaborative effort, the cost is split between the City of Dubuque and Alliant Energy.
