WHEREAS, City of Dubuque Boards and Commissions play an important role in city government by
serving as the voice of residents, assisting in the development of policy
recommendations, providing support to City staff, and promoting the City's programs;
and
WHEREAS, boards and commissions are volunteer -based opportunities, meaning residents
dedicate their personal time and energy to make a difference in the community; and
WHEREAS, boards and commissioners are greatly appreciated by the City Council and City staff for
their service to the City of Dubuque; and
WHEREAS, the challenges resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic have not deterred boards and
commissioners from their service and illustrates the flexibility and resiliency of these
dedicated volunteers; and
WHEREAS, service on a board or commission is an excellent way for residents to be civically
engaged and contribute to the quality of life in Dubuque; and
WHEREAS, all City of Dubuque residents are encouraged to consider volunteering on a board or
commission, as the city actively seeks applicants with diverse backgrounds, life
experiences, and perspectives.
NOW THEREFORE, I, ROY D. BUOL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, ON BEHALF
OF THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF AND THE CITIZENS OF DUBUQUE, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM
THE 18TH OF OCTOBER 2021 AS
"Boards and Commissions Recognition Day"
IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA AND THANK ALL OF OUR BOARDS AND COMMISSIONERS
FOR THEIR DEDICATION TO THE CITY OF DUBUQUE.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my
