DISCUSSION Five Flags Civic Center General Manager HR Cook along with assistance from ASM Global staff here in Dubuque researched the opportunity and applied to the Iowa Arts Council, a division of the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs, for the Iowa Arts & Culture Marketing Grant program. Funding for this program was established with $1 million of Coronavirus Relief Funds from the CARES Act, directed to the department by Governor Kim Reynolds, Office of the Governor of Iowa. The application received careful consideration as one of 128 requests totaling $1,340,789 for CARES Act funding. Recently they were awarded a grant in the amount of $11,300 in support of their work to advance arts and culture in Iowa. Eligible Use of Funds Eligible expenses must be directly tied to costs incurred to publicize the safe resumption of activities and/or to promote steps taken to ensure a safe experience at arts and cultural organizations due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
