1. Approve Minutes of May 14, 2010
Motion by Commissioner Takes to approve the minutes of May 14, 2010 as
presented. Seconded by Schilling. Motion carried 3 -0.
2. Establish Passing Point and Certify List for Position of Custodian I
Takes questioned why the recommended passing score was below 70 %. It was
explained that if the passing score had been established at 70 %, only one
candidate would have passed the examination. Motion by Takes to establish the
passing point for the position of Custodian I at 35 and above correct answers
(67.3 %). Seconded by Schilling. Motion carried 3 -0. Motion by Takes to certify
the list as read. Seconded by Schilling. Motion carried 3 -0.
3. Establish Passing Point and Certify List for Position of Water Meter
Repairworker 1
Takes questioned why the recommended passing score was different for every
test. She stated she felt 70% was the accepted passing point and should be
used for all examinations. Personnel Manager Peck explained that they try and
get the largest pool of candidates as possible while trying to stay close to a 70%
pass point. He further explained the Civil Service test was just one component
considered in the hiring process. Motion by Schilling to establish the passing
point for the position of Water Meter Repairworker I at 65 and above correct
answers (69.9 %). Seconded by Takes. Motion carried 3 -0. Motion by Takes to
certify the list as read. Seconded by Schilling. Motion carried 3 -0.
4. Establish Passing Point and Certify List for Position of Water Pollution
Control Plant Operator
Motion by Takes to establish the passing point for the position of Water Pollution
Control Plant Operator at 56 and above correct answers (70 %). Seconded by
Schilling. Motion carried 3 -0. Motion by Takes to certify the list as read.
Seconded by Schilling. Motion carried 3 -0.
5. Request to Schedule Entrance Examination for Position of Water
Distribution Maintenanceworker
Schilling moved to schedule an entrance examination for the position of Water
Distribution Maintenanceworker for 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 21, 2010 with
an application deadline of 5:00 p.m. on July 12, 2010. Seconded by White.
Motion carried 3 -0.
There being no further business, upon motion the meeting adjourned at 11:27 p.m.
