RE: The National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium's proposal to the EPA's
Environmental Education Local Grants Program for Region 7
EPA EE Review Committee:
Please accept this letter of commitment to serve as project partner on The National Mississippi River
Museum & Aquarium's Teens Take CAARE Climate Action Outreach Project and environmental literacy
program, as outlined in their grant proposal.
In collaboration with the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium and other partners listed in this
application we will engage teens in programming that will enable them to experience nature and find a
connection to place in their neighborhood, build community environmental literacy by engaging with
their neighbors, and grow their career readiness skills by directly engaging with the many city
professional whose roles and responsibilities include aspects relating to our relationship with nature,
climate resiliency, outdoor recreation, and sustainability.
The City of Dubuque is a progressive, sustainable city with a strong diversified economy and expanding
global connections. We are an inclusive community celebrating culture and heritage. Our citizens
experience healthy living and active retirement through quality, livable neighborhoods and an
abundance of fun things to do. Our neighbors are engaged in the community and we achieve our goals
through partnerships assuring our citizens receive the greatest value for their tax dollars.
We are truly a "Masterpiece on the Mississippi."
Our Imagine Dubuque Plan, Chapter 4 shares that Environmental Integrity is a priority in our
community. Specifically focusing on healthy neighborhoods and eco-education/participatory
conservation. The City of Dubuque has adopted a Climate Action and Resiliency Plan with a goal of
50% greenhouse gas reduction by 2030.
Through this collaborative we will take one more step towards making Dubuque a more livable,
equitable, and sustainable city by serving in this network of partners dedicated to expanding our
communities environmental literacies.
