The Carbon Disclosure Project recently announced the 2021 scores and the City of Dubuque scored an A- (A minus) — Leadership level. While reporting is encouraged, free, and important, significant staff time (including a no -cost intern) was devoted to gathering data and filling out the report. Reporting aligns with the City's 50% by 2030 Plan, demonstrating the City's actionable efforts towards creating a more equitable, green and economically strong community. The 2021 score represents an improvement over prior years reporting due to the continued work on implementing the 50% by 2030 Plan as well as improved data collection and time committed to reporting. v Mic ael C. BACKGROUND The International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI) in partnership with the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) hosts a program which originated in Europe that is considered the gold standard for reporting greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and climate change related risk. The Carbon Disclosure Project currently has over 700 international cities as well as the world's largest publicly traded companies who have committed to measuring GHG emissions and adaptive measures through this program. When ICLEI first launched this program in the U.S., the city of Dubuque was selected as one of the 30 communities to serve in the pilot program. The scorecard helps us to share the work we've done as well as compare ourselves to others in our region and worldwide.
