Catfish Creek Generator Installation ProjectMasterpiece on the Mississippi TO: The Honorable Mayor and City Council Members FROM: Michael C. Van Milligen, City Manager SUBJECT: Catfish Creek Generator DATE: July 13, 2010 Dubuque mwimerlcaCity r 2007 Water Pollution Control Plant Manager Jonathan Brown recommends City Council approval of the plans, specifications, form of contract and estimated cost $120,000 for the Catfish Creek Pumping Station Generator Project. Standby Generators have been added at two of the three major pumping stations serving the sanitary sewer collection system of the City of Dubuque. The generator at Cedar Street was included in the major rebuild of the station from 2005 -2007 and the Terminal Street Station generator was added during the electrical upgrades in 2008- 2009. This project will complete the installation of standby power at the major pumping stations. The smaller stations are served by two portable generators and the ability to use a diesel powered portable pump. By completing this series of projects the City of Dubuque will greatly reduce the risk of sanitary sewer overflows caused by power outages. I concur with the recommendation and respectfully request Mayor and City Council approval. aeI C.
