Carnegie -Stout Public Library
Library Board of Trustees Update
From the Meeting November 18, 2021
Present: Pam Mullin, President; Greg Gorton, Vice -President; and Trustees, Robert
Armstrong and Victor Lieberman
• The Board approved library expenditures.
• At the end of October, expenditures were at 30% and revenue was at 23% of
projections.
• Carnegie -Stout Public Library saw increases in library visitors (+23%), computer
use (+21%), and program attendance (+63%) over October 2020.
• Circulation over previous October was down 9%. This is likely due to a decline in
checkouts to physical media formats such as music CDs (-18%) and DVD & Blu-
ray movies (-22%). The rise in production studios streaming new release movies,
and the decline in new releases titles available in physical format is a contributing
factor. Print materials saw an increase in circulation (+3%) over October 2020.
Year-to-date overall circulation FY22 is up 4% over year-to-date FY21.
• 123 Curbside visits in October.
• In a partnership with the Dubuque County Extension Office, Amaryllis Bulb Kits
were given away to the quickest of respondents.
• With the addition of a Teen Librarian and in coordination with marketing efforts,
attendance of Teen programming saw a 90% increase over September.
• 2022 Carnegie -Stout Public Library closed dates schedule was submitted. Closed
dates will be announced as they approach via press release, library website, and
social media accounts.
