Minutes Civil Service 7 8 03 CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION Date: Tuesday, July 8, 2003 Time: 3:00 p.m. Place of Meeting: City Hall - Conference Room A Present: Chairperson Merle Duehr, Commissioner Loras Kluesner, Commissioner Dick Wertzberger Also Present: Corporation Counsel Barry Lindahl, Personnel Manager Randy Peck, Fire Chief Dan Brown, Water Plant Manager Bob Green, Attorney C.J. May, Jr. Approve Minutes of April 7, 2003 Commissioner Wertzberger moved to approve the minutes of April 7, 2003. Seconded by Kluesner, passed unanimously. Schedule Hearing Date on Appeal of Brian Kohn Commissioner Kluesner moved to set the headng on the appeal of the termination of Brian Kohn for July 25, 2003 at 2:00 at a place to be determined (Capitol Room at Holiday Inn Five Flags). Seconded by Wertzberger, passed unanimously. Request to Schedule Entrance Examination for the Position of Account Clerk I Commissioner Kluesner moved to hold a test for Account Clerk I as an entrance examination, that the exam be open current City employees and the general public and that the eligibility list be good for two years. He further moved that the application deadline be 5:00 p.m., August 6, 2003 and the test be held on August 20, 2003 at 6:30 p.m. in the Five Flags Ballroom. Seconded by Wertzberger, passed unanimously. Establish Passing Point for the Positions of Fire Equipment Operator, Fire Lieutenant, Fire Captain, and Assistant Fire Chief and Certify Uste Fire Equipment Operator - Commissioner Duehr moved to accept the recommendation of McCann Associates and establish the passing score as 69. Seconded by Wertzberger, passed unanimously. Wertzberger moved to certify the list as read and that the list be good for two years. Seconded by Kluesner, passed unanimously. Fire Lieutenant - Commissioner Kluesner moved to establish the passing score as 70. Seconded by Wedzberger, passed unanimously. Wertzberger moved that the list of the top ten candidates be certified as read and that eight candidates be placed on a reserve list and that the lists be good for two years. Seconded by Kluesner, passed unanimously. Fire Captain -- Commissioner Kluesner moved to establish the passing score as 64. Seconded by Duehr. Vote on the motion was as follows: Ayes - Kluesner, Duehr; Nays - Wertzberger. Wedzberger moved that the list be certified as read and that the list be good for two years. Seconded by Kluesner, passed unanimously. Assistant Fire Chief -- Commissioner Kluesner moved to accept the recommendation of McCann Associates and establish the passing score as 70. Seconded by Wertzberger, passed unanimously. Wertzberger moved that the list be certified as read and that the list be good for two years. Seconded by Kluesner, passed unanimously.
