Van Milligen, City Manager Mary Rose Corrigan, Public Health Specialist Weed Assessments July 19, 2010 Dubuque bitil Ai-America CA// 11111! 2007 The enclosed material provides for the levy of special assessments for the first half of the 2010 Weed Enforcement Program. This project reflects areas inspected from January 1, 2010 to July 19, 2010. DISCUSSION The City received compliance from the majority of the property owners who received notices. Thirteen (13) property owners did not comply with the notice to cut weeds. In such situations, the policy of the City is to correct the defects and levy the costs against property owners in the form of a special assessment, including the costs of a contractor performing the work and a $25 administrative charge. The City hired a private contractor as provided for in State statute. The total amount of the assessments is $1372.15, which is being levied against thirteen separate parcels of property. RECOMMENDATION I would recommend that the City Council approve the attached final assessment schedule. ACTION TO BE TAKEN The City Council is requested to adopt the attached resolution establishing the final assessment schedule.
