The Five Flags Civic Center Project is now underway. As you already
know, a private non-profit organization has been formed to restore the
Orpheum Theatre. Additionally, this organization also proposes to
construct adjacent to, and in connection with the theater, a large, year-
round public assembly hall. The completed project would then be
donated to the City of Dubuque for use as a Community Center fora wide
variety of public functions and activities.
A well prepared slide presentation complete with a script narrated by
Paul Hemmer of WDBQ is currently being presented to various groups and
clubs throughout Dubuqueland, and we have taken the liberty of reserving
this presentation for viewing by City Employees and their families for
Tuesday evening, February 1, in City Council Chambers.
This is not a solicitation, but only an opportunity to learn first hand the
scope of the project and to have questions ar..s .'eyed. We would hope
that City Employees would wish to be fully informed on projects such as
the Five Flags Civic Center Project.
We are requesting Department Heads and other supervisors tc post copies
of this letter in all work areas.
The presentation will begin promptly at 7:30, and the meeting will be
adjourned no later than 8:15.
Sincerely yours__
