TYPE OF PROJECT: Sculpture Design Competition
OBJECTIVE: To provide an opportunity for area sculptors and others residing within
a 100 mile radius to design a piece of sculpture to be installed in an
appropriate setting in Town Clock Plaza in Dubuque, Iowa
TITLE OF PROJECT: Town Clock Plaza Sculpture Design Competition
1. Need
There is a need to create a public awareness of enhancing the quality
of public improvements by including works of art in locations of high
visibility and accessibility to the general public.
2. Program
The City of Dubuque has under contract an architectural and planning
firm charged with the design of a pedestrianway in the Downtown
Urban Renewal Project Area. Included in the overall design are many
special architectural features including, but not limited to, a fountain,
two pavilions, kiosks, special planting areas, etc. No provision has
been made for a piece of sculpture, and this design competition pro-
vides for such a work of art to be fabricated and installed by the City
in the pedestrianway area. Conceptual specifications and the judging
will be accomplished by Charles Mosher of Barton-Aschman Associates,
Inc. of Chicago, Illinois, the principal designer of Town Clock Plaza.

Cash Prize for Winning Design
Preparation of specifications and juror's fee
Management of Competition - Preparation of
announcement brochure and TV, radio, newspaper
and other news releases; processing entries;
arranging public display of entries; arranging
public event to announce winning entry and honor-
able mentions; maintaining records; etc.
80 hours at $5.00 per hour
Printing brochure, stationery and mailing costs
