Amending the City Electricity, Heating and Ventilation and Plumbing
Ordinances
Building Services Manager Rich Russell is recommending amending the City Ordinance
to increase the electrical, mechanical and plumbing license fees. These fees are being
increased as part of the city-wide effort to lessen the impact of the reduction in state
funding to cities.
I concur with the recommendation and respectfully request Mayor and City Council
approval.

Ordinances
INTRODUCTION: The purpose of this memo is to recommend the amending of
the City Ordinance by increasing the electrical, mechanical and plumbing license
fees.
DISCUSSION: These fees are being increased as part of the city-wide effort to
lessen the impact of the reduction in state funding to cities. / have attached the
ordinance showing the license fees for your review.
RECOMMENDATION: I recommend the attached ordinances be adopted.
ORDINANCE NO. 62-03
AMENDING THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA CODE OF ORDINANCES,
SECTION 18-2 ARTICLE 83-7 TABLE 13-B ELECTRICAL
EXAMINATION, LICENSE AND REGISTRATION FEES.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF DUBUQUE, IOWA:
Section 1. That Section 18-2 Article 83-7 Table 13-B of the City of Dubuque
Code of Ordinances be amended to read as follows:
Article 83-7:
TABLE 13-B
Electrical Examination, License and Registration Fees
1. Initial fee for Class I registration $150
2. Initial fee for Class II registration $120
3. Initial fee for Class III registration $100
4. Initial fee for Class IV registration $ 15
5. Renewal fee for Class I registration $ 75
6. Renewal fee for Class II registration $ 60
7. Renewal fee for Class III registration $ 50
8. Renewal fee for Class IV registration $ 15
9. Examination fees are set by the testing agency.
Section 2. When Effective.
