Dear John:
Thank you for your letter of September 10, 1976. The information
and background you forwarded is of interest to me and the Commission.
I had suggested to you the general scope of the project. It includes a
multi -purpose auditorium with a competition ice sheet (85 x 200) and
fixed seating of 1400, plus an additional 600 moveable seats for hockey
viewing. The auditorium is to be divided into two equal size auditoriums
for multi use, either with the ice up or down. We have given some
thought to piping each side separately (also discussed some of the inherent
difficulties with such a system). I have enclosed a copy of a tentative
listing of possible events to be staged and capacities of attendance.
Your offer to lead a tour of completed facilities in the Twin City area is
most gracious. Preparatory to such a tour, could you send me a listing
of several facilities along with their general characteristics that you feel
representative of the problem. Keep in mind the multi -purpose natura of
the Dubuque Civic Center Facility. We could select from that list and
schedule a mutually convenient time. A representative (s) will, I am sure,
be interested in traveling to the Twin City area in October.
Your offer as special consultant is also of interest, and I suggest we
discuss that possible role at the time we get together in Minneapolis.
