owar uraduated from the U.S. Naval
Acade y ' 19 5_ His early assignments were aboard USS
PHILADELPHIA (CL-41), USS JOHN A. BOLE (DD-755),
and the Armed Forces Special Weapons Project. During the
Korean War, Captain Ursettie served as staff with
Amphibious Group Three aboard the USS MOUNT
McKINLEY (AGC-7) in the Western Pacific and aboard the
USS PORTERFIELD (DD-692) as Executive Officer. Later
sea duty assignments were as Commanding Officer, USS
CARRONADE (IFS-1) and USS SHIELDS (DD-596).
Captain Ursettie is a graduate of the Naval Postgraduate
School in Monterey, CA. He has also
served at Naval Personnel Command , U.S.
Military Assistance Command, Vietnam,
and with U.S. Pacific Fleet. He assumed
command of USS DUBUQUE (LPD-S) as
it's very first Commanding Officer from 1
September 1967 to 20 February 1969.
Captain Ursettie retired from active duty 30
June, 1974. He currently resides in Goleta,
CA, with his wife, Elizabeth.
