PROCLAMATION

WHEREAS, August 23, 2010 begins the 50 year of Table Mound Elementary
School; and
WHEREAS, the County Superintendent and the Table Mound School Board
promoted the building of Table Mound Elementary School in the Table
Mound Township to assure themselves of having a school in the
Rockdale Road area after 1962; and
WHEREAS, Table Mound Elementary School officially opened in October of the
1960-61 school year, being formed by the closing of eight rural
schools and later adding another 15 rural schools to this
consolidation; and
WHEREAS, after five building additions over 50 years, there are now 430 students
enrolled in kindergarten through fifth grade and served by almost 50
staff members.
NOW THEREFORE, I, ROY D. BUOL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, ON
BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF AND CITIZENS OF DUBUQUE, DO HEREBY
PROCLAIM THE WEEK OF AUGUST 23-27, 2010 AS
“TABLE MOUND ELEMENTARY SCHOOL WEEK”
IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, IN RECOGNITION OF THE RICH HERITAGE
SPANNING 50 YEARS OF TABLE MOUND ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
