I would be happy to recommend to the City Council at their August 16, 2010 City Council meeting that the City of Dubuque be listed as a partner for this event. This event is consistent with some of the recent recommendations of the Safe Community Task Force. Most notably, the Task Force emphasized the need for city -wide human relations efforts encouraging increased tolerance and mutual understanding, an important step in developing safe, peaceful neighborhoods. The Human Rights Department is in conversations with the Multicultural Family Center and the Dubuque Dispute Resolution Center regarding the possibility of holding an event at the Multicultural Family Center between September 18 and 21. In addition, if you keep us apprised of event details, we will include that information in our employee newsletter as space allows. Finally, if you would let us know of specific committees that are in need of assistance, we will forward that information to our employees, should the City Council accept the recommendation. Thanks to you and all of the volunteers for the time and effort that has gone into the planning of this celebration. MCVM:el Sincerely, 4, Michael C.
