RE: Marion Street Sidewalks
To Mayor Roy Boul and Dubuque City Council /City Engineer:
I am writing in regard to the lack of sidewalks on Marion Street from Fremont to the bottom of the hill at Concord
and Concord Ct. There are over 14 kids that live on Concord Ct. that walk up Marion Street to school, activities, etc.
There are no sidewalks on either side of the street forcing all pedestrians into the street having to maneuver around
parked cars and oncoming traffic. It is a disaster waiting to happen.
I have owned 3 houses in Dubuque in the past 7 years and have had to replace sidewalks at 2 of them (778
Brookview Square and 1780 S. Grandview). Sidewalks that were there, but perhaps had a crack or discontinuity.
Those living on Marion Street, well within the city limits and on a main thoroughfare, do not even have sidwalks.
The situation only worsens in the winter when there is snow piled along the road on both sides and the passage for
cars and pedestrians is more narrow.
I am writing to ask that there is at least one sidewalk installed on Marion Street, which ever side is deemed most
easily adapted or built. It is a dangerous and unfair situation for everyone in the neighborhood. If a petition is
necessary I am more than happy to get signatures from those in the neighborhood.
Thank you for your hard work and dedication to the City of Dubuque.

Message: I would like to request that the parking ordinance limiting one parking permit per apartment and 2 permits per
block be re- visited at the next city council meeting. In an era where most couples now have two vehicles per household and
they are limited to metered parking on their street, they should both have the ability to register for permits for their residential
needs and not be forced to feed a meter if one is home on a day that has meters enforced, or wishes to leave their vehicle
parked at home while on vacation, etc.

Mr. Steppan -
I am forwarding your request to the City Clerk's office. They handle all requests for City Council agenda. I am
attaching a copy of the current ordinance which addresses meter permits.
Please let us know if you have any further questions.
Thank you -
