Letter from Kenton Peters and Associates_09.10.1976September 10, 1976 Mrs. F. Benjamin Merrit 2315 Simpson Dubuque IA Dear Mrs. Merrit: It was a pleasure talking with you today regarding the new Civic Center for Dubuque. The facilities to be included in this Center coupled with the Theater and the mall will, I believe, certainly make the Dubuque Downtown the envy of many other mid western cities. We are of course very interested in this project and would welcome the opportunity to be of service to your community. I realize that you have worked with another firm on the preliminary phases and feel bound to give them first consideration for the actual implementation of the project. But, should the committee feel that these implementation phases may require additional expertise and experience not now available or that com- p6tent and thorough services can be secured perhaps at less cost to the city, we would respectfully invite you to consider our firm. Our project experience includes a number of buildings similar to the type of facilities included in your Center. Incidentially, our engineers have experience in the design of indoor ice skating arenas. Several projects are listed which incorporated these similar facilities. Theaters. Wisconsin Theater - Sheboygan Orpheum Theater - Madison Student Union - U.W. Parkside, Kenosha Capital Theater - Racine Athletic Facilities: West YMCA - Madison East YMCA - Madison Multi Use Facilities (Gallery included): Activities Building - Grand Army Home, King, Wisconsin This 1s of course, a very abreviated list of our total project experience. Again, we understand the proceedure your committee wishes to follow and we submit this invitation to consider us in the event they feel other options are open which offer the potential of a better, more economical project. Thank you for considering us. Sincerely, KENTON PETERS ; ASSOCIATES, INC. Kenton Peters, AIA cc: Mayor Alvin Lund KAP:kr
