MEMORANDUM
August 26, 2003
TO: Michael C. Van Milligen, City Manager
FROM: E. Daniel Brown, Fire Chief
SUBJECT: Confined Spaced Rescue Agreement Fee
Iowa Osha requires companies that have employees who perform work in
confined spaces have rescue capabilities or signed agreements with rescue
services. Currently Dubuque Fire Department has agreements with nine
companies in the city.
The companies are Alliant Energy, Barnstead International, A.Y. McDonald, Koch
Materials, Sara Lee Bakery, Sunnycrest Manor, Eagle Window & Door, Vessel
Systems and Inland Protein.
The fiscal year 2004 budget amendment provided for an annual fee of $500.00 for
the companies in the city that the fire department provides confined space rescue
agreements. This will provide an increase of revenue to the fire department of
$4500.000 annually.
Attached is the resolution for enacting this fee. I respectfully request this be
submitted to the Mayor and City Council for approval.
