Proclamation_Make a Will Month October 2010
PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, the month of October 2010 has been proclaimed “Make a Will
Month,” and a group of community leaders has formed a committee
to initiate the month-long effort to increase the number of people
who have wills; and
WHEREAS, the Wills Committee’s program will be known as “Make a Will Month
– A Tri-State Initiative;” and
WHEREAS, over one half of all adults have not completed a Will and subject
themselves to having the state dictate their wishes; and
WHEREAS, when you have a Will, you have the power to decide who will take
care of your children, receive your belongings and carry out your
wishes; and
WHEREAS, the “Make a Will Month – A Tri-State Initiative” will hold informational
sessions on October 3, 7, 8, 10, 13, and 26 to provide citizens in the
tri-state area with information necessary to complete a Will.
NOW THEREFORE, I, KARLA A. BRAIG, MAYOR PRO-TEM OF THE CITY OF
DUBUQUE, IOWA, ON BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF AND CITIZENS OF
DUBUQUE, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM THE MONTH OF OCTOBER 2010, AS:
