The Dubuque City Council met in special session at 6:30 p.m. on March 7, 2023, in the second-
floor Council Chambers of the Historic Federal Building, 350 W. 6th Street.
Present: Mayor Cavanagh; Council Members Farber, Jones, Resnick, Roussell, Sprank,
Wethal; City Manager Van Milligen.
Mayor Cavanagh read the call and stated this is a special session of the City Council called for
the purpose of conducting public hearings on certain Fiscal Year 2024 Department Budgets.
PUBLIC HEARINGS
FISCAL YEAR 2024 DEPARTMENT BUDGETS
Fiscal Year 2024 City department budgets were presented by staff from the following
departments:
1. Housing and Community Development Fiscal Year 2024 Budget Presentation: Alexis Steger,
Director Housing and Community Development; Michael Belmont, Assistant Director of Housing
and Community Development; Ben Pothoff, Deputy Code Official; Gina Hodgson, Assisted
Housing Supervisor; Mary Bridget Corken Deutsch, Community Development Specialist; Maddy
Haverland, Urban Development & Housing Rehabilitation Project Manager; Angela Ventris, Grant
Project Manager; and Nicole Lytle, Grants Program Manager.
2. Purchase of Services Fiscal Year 2024 Budget Presentation: Alexis Steger, Director Housing
and Community Development.
3. Planning Services Fiscal Year 2024 Budget Presentation: Wally Wernimont, Planning
Services Manager.
4.Economic Development Fiscal Year 2024 Budget Presentation: Jill Connors, Economic
Development Director; and Jenni Peterson-Brant, Arts and Cultural Affairs Manager.
Staff responded to questions from the City Council following their respective presentation.
There being no further business, Mayor Cavanagh declared the meeting adjourned at 8:57 p.m.
