Re: Street closing for festival
The following letter is concerning the idea of closing portions of Main
Street and First Street for The Little Dublin's Irish Fest. We, the following
residents, business owners, and/or property owners, do not support the idea of for
profit groups and/or persons closing our streets and cutting off access to the
adjoining properties of said streets.
We do support street closure for nonprofit organizations to hold festivals. It
is not uncommon for many nonprofit organizations and service groups to
collaborate for the common goal of providing a community inclusive event. The
non profit organizations seem to understand that denying access to the adjoining
properties is sometimes a financial burden to those affected business owners,
therefore, the street closure is held to a minimum. Non profit groups, seem to also
understand, that a festival is meant to be fun and that the fun must end at a
reasonable time, allowing residents to zemin peaceful enjoyment of their homes.
It is different~-~ the case of a for profit venture closing public streets for
his/her/their own financial benefit; while the other businesses that are
inconvenienced, are not compensated, therefore, the proposed two day street
closure is unreasonable.
