Grand River Center Dedication Plaque
Preparations are being made to order the dedication plaque for the Grand River Center.
I am proposing looking back to October 2000, when the City Council approved a
resolution of support for the Vision Iowa application, with $20 million to be used to build
the Grand River Center as the date for which names appear on the plaque. This would
add the names of Council Member Joe Robbins (1993-2001) and Board of Supervisors
member Alan Mantemach (1987-2002) to the list of existing elected officials on the
plaque. It would also add Scott Zartman (2000-2001) to the DRA section and Swati
Dandekar, Richard Johnson, C.J. Niles, and Dianne Pacu to the Vision Iowa Board list.
Also, the plaque would include the members of the Design Review Committee. Teri
Goodmann, Building Services Manager Rich Russell and Economic Development
Planner Pam Myhre are not official members of that committee, but they did attend most
meetings and provided a significant contribution to the activities of the committee. I
would like to include their names on the plaque.
I respectfully recommend Mayor and City Council approval of the Grand River Center
Dedication Plaque.
