• Eight percent of the fiscal year has lapsed with nine percent of the budget
expended
• Library use was down in July. Although elevator access was restored for
the first time since May 10 use was down in every category. It is not
known if the decrease was due to the inconvenience experienced in the
last months of construction
• The Art Subcommittee met to discuss launching Art@ your library again.
The committee agreed that the exhibits would be last two months and they
would like the first exhibit to kick off in November. Commissions from the
sales go to support future exhibits.
• The Art Subcommittee /Library will partner with the Women & Spirit exhibit
that will be at the National Mississippi River Museum February 18 — May
22. A companion exhibit will be at the Library and art work by local Sisters
will be on display. Sr. Pricilla Wood is coordinating these efforts with the
congregations, the Art Subcommittee and Library Administration.
• The Board approved new guidelines for the Art Subcommittee which will
allow up to seven members. The group has become more hands on and
requires more volunteer work from members, which previously was limited
to three.
• The Library received a grant award from Alliant Energy which will go
toward the purchase of a foreign language database. The database will
be available in the library or from remote sites. Mango includes 48 unique
language courses and 14 English as a second language courses.
• Hiring of library staff is nearly complete. All existing library employees
whose jobs were eliminated were hired in new positions. Additionally, 5
part -time library assistants and one part-time secretary were hired. It is
anticipated that the vacancies for the library aide positions (3 part-time)
will be filled by mid - October.
