Proclamation 2 1 1 November 03
WHEREAS, there are many citizens of Dubuque who need to quickly and
conveniently seek out information, guidance and direction in support
of an individual or family member; and
WHEREAS, for more than twenty years Project Concern has offered these
services and now is making this service available at no cost through
the 2-1-1 information number for Dubuque citizens beginning in
October, 2003; and
WHEREAS, the cooperative efforts of the Iowa Utilities Board, Iowa State
Extension Outreach, Iowa Alliance of Information and Referral
Services, American Red Cross, Info-Link, Project Concern, Dubuque
Racing Association, City of Dubuque, Dubuque County, Dubuque
Area United Way and other organizations have made this service
possible; and
WHEREAS, the 2-1-1 number is easy to remember and impacts Dubuque by
connecting people with important services and assistance; and
WHEREAS, the 2-1-1 confidential call provides a service that benefits users and
community service providers and can be used as a critical
information system for community preparedness and during a
community crisis.
NOW THEREFORE, I, TERRANCE M. DUGGAN, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF
DUBUQUE, IOWA, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM THAT NOVEMBER, 2003 BE
DESIGNATED AS:
“2-1-1 MONTH”
IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA.
