Van Milligen, City Mana FROM: Gus Psihoyos, City Engineer SUBJECT: North Grandview Avenue and Rosedale Avenue Emergency Storm Sewer Repair Project (CI 1002073) DATE: October 25, 2010 On October 18, 2010, the City Council authorized (Resolution 401 -10) emergency repairs to the storm sewer west of the intersection of North Grandview Avenue and Rosedale Avenue. Due to the heavy rain events that occurred on July 22 and 23, 2010, the existing twin 18- and 24 -inch diameter storm sewer pipes under North Grandview Avenue failed and caused undermining of the pavement and sidewalk areas. Top Grade Excavating $49,846.99 $52,511.00 $54,608.55 $63,499.00 $65,792.65 $79,932.23 TD Dubuque AU- America City 2007 Based on Iowa Code § 384.103 and § 364.12(3)(c), and through the competitive quotation process for public improvements, this project was awarded on October 22, 2010, to McDermott Excavating of Dubuque, Iowa, in the amount of $49,846.99. As a result of the Presidential Disaster Declaration for Dubuque County, the City is eligible for public assistance. Since the storm sewer damages to North Grandview Avenue occurred on a minor arterial, as per the Federal Functional Classification System map for Dubuque, repairs are not FEMA eligible. Thus the City submitted a Detailed Damage Inspection Report and requested approval for Federal ER Funding to complete the emergency repair work. In accordance with the competitive quotation requirements of Iowa Code, Section 26.14, it is necessary that the award for the North Grandview Avenue and Rosedale Avenue Emergency Storm Sewer Repair Project be officially recorded in the minutes of the City Council.
