INTRODUCTION
This memo is meant to inform you of the intended agenda for a presentation to the City
Council at their November 15 regular meeting entitled "Sustainability At Work: How
Sustainability is Enhancing Dubuque's Economic Competitiveness."
DISCUSSION
On September 25, 2010, a panel from Dubuque presented at the ICLEI Local Climate
Action Summit in Washington D.C. The focus of that presentation was Dubuque's efforts to
use sustainability as an economic development tool.
At the November 15 City Council meeting, panel members will present a consolidated
version of the presentation. The agenda includes:
1. Introduction and background: Cori Burbach, Sustainability Coordinator
2. The Petal Project and Buyer Supplier Network: Candace Eudaley, Regional Economic
Development and Sustainability Coordinator, ECIA
3. Sustainability Innovation Consortium: Dave Lyons, Smarter Sustainable Dubuque Project
Manager
4. Presentation of the " Sustainability at Work" video: Tom Woodward, President & CEO,
Sustainable City Network, Inc. SCN produced this short video to highlight Dubuque
businesses that are entering or thriving in new markets created by customer demand for
sustainable services and products.
