Acceptance of Public Improvements in Barton Randle Addition
Public Works Director Mike Koch is recommending acceptance of the public
improvements that the developer, Grand View United Methodist Church, has recently
completed in Barton Randle Addition. Maintenance of said improvements shall be the
responsibility of the contractor, River City Paving, and the owner, Grand View United
Methodist Church, for a pedod of two years from the date of acceptance.
I concur with the recommendation and respectfully request Mayor and City Council
approval.

Acceptance of Public Improvements in Barton Randle Addition
INTRODUCTION
The enclosed material provides for City Council acceptance of the public improvements
which the developer, Grand View United Methodist Church, has recently completed in
Barton Randle Addition.
BACKGROUND
As a condition of subdivision plat approval through Resolution No. 348-01, the
developer of Barton Randle Addition was required to install certain improvements
including street paving, storm sewer, watermain, and street lighting, and to dedicate the
improvements to the City upon completion. The developer of Barton Randle Addition,
Grand View United Methodist Church, has recently completed the improvements and
has formally requested the City's acceptance of the public improvements which have
been installed.
DISCUSSION
The Subdivision Ordinance requires that upon completion of all the required public
improvements, the subdivider shall notify the City in writing of the completion of the
improvements, requesting that the City either approve or reject the acceptance of the
improvements, together with a statement of reasons for any rejection.
On June 11, 2003, Grand View United Methodist Church, requested City's acceptance
of the improvements in Barton Randle Addition. Upon inspection by the City, it has
been determined that all of the public improvements required by Resolution No. 348-01
has been completed in accordance with plans approved by the City Council and in
conformance with City specifications.
RECOMMENDATION
I would therefore recommend that the City Council accept the improvements.
Maintenance of said improvements shall be the responsibility of the contractor, River
City Paving, and the owner, Grand View United Methodist Church, for a period of two
years from the date of acceptance by the City Council.
ACTION TO BE TAKEN
The City Council is mquested to adopt the aEached msolution accepting the
impmvements.
RESOLUTION NO. 485-03
ACCEPTING IMPROVEMENTS IN BARTON RANDLE ADDITION
Whereas, pursuant to Resolution No. 348-01, certain mprovements
including street paving, storm sewer, watermain, and street lighting were installed
by the developer of Barton Randle Addition.
Whereas, the improvements have been completed and the City Manager
has examined the work and has filed a certificate stating that the same has been
completed in accordance with the plans approved by the City Council and in
conformance with City specifications, and has recommended that the
improvements ~)e accepted by the City Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CiTY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA:
Section 1. That the recommendation of the City Manager be approved
and that said improvements in Barton Randle Addition be and the same is hereby
accepted.
Section2. That maintenance of said improvements shall be the
responsibility of the contractor and the owner for a period of two years from this
date.
