This is a claim in which the claimant alleges that a City recycling truck struck his vehicle,

an icy patch.
According to the report of Paul Schultz, Solid Waste Management Supervisor, recycling
truck #3404 damaged the rear bumper of claimant's parked 2001 Chew Malibu after the
truck slid on a patch of ice while in the process of collecting recyclables.
It is therefore the recommendation of Paul Schultz to approve this claim for the amount of
the estimate of $674.62. The Legal Department concurs with this recommendation.

Claim of Jim Green
The claim and estimate of $674.62 is approved as filed.
From my investigation at the scene of the accident, conversation with the
refuse crew and Mr. Green and the photo taken, recycling track ~3404 damaged
the rear bumper of the referenced 2001 Chew Malibu. The accident occurred
during a snowstorm on December 12, 2003 around 8 AM on the very steep
portion of Atlantic Street. Track #3404 had come to a compete stop in the
process of collecting recyclables. Because of the amount of snow and ice on the
residential street that had not yet been plowed or salted, and due to the slope of
the crown of the street, the truck slid sideways into Mr. Green's parked vehicle.
Truck #3404 had brand new fires installed to handle winter conditions.
The police were not called due to my estimate that the damage was less
than $1,000.
