Dear Mayor Duggan:
I am pleased to armounce that the State Historic Preservation Bureau will be funding City of Dubuque's
Certified Local Government (CLG) grant application. Anita Walker, State Historic Preservation Officer,
and the State Historical Society Board of Trustees recommended approval of this funding at their
November 20, 2003 meeting. The City of Dubuque will receive an award of $14,437.50 to undertake
Phase V: In-Depth Architectural-Historical, Survey-Evaluation project. Congratulations!
The CLG grants are part of the Historic Preservation Fund grant, which the federal government annually
awards to Iowa to assist State and local historic preservation programs. The grants are obligated as
authorized by the National Historic Preservation Act. Consequently, CLG grant recipients must
administer their projects in accordance with applicable regulations and procedures governing Historic
Preservation Fund grants.
In approximately 30 days, I will be forwarding three copies of the CLG Grant-in-Aid Agreement for your
signature. After signing all copies, remm them to me at the address below for execution by the State.
Please do not beg/n work on your project until you have received your fully signed copy of the
Agreement from the State, which will be your notice to proceed.
We look forward to working with the City of Dubuque's Historic Preservation CommAssion on this
project and are pleased that we can assistance in your continuing historic preservation efforts.
