Proclamation Martin Luther Jr D
WHEREAS, on Sunday, January 18, 2004, our community will celebrate the
birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., beginning with a gathering at
Jackson Park at 1 P.M. and a march to St. Francis School to hear an
address by Mary Ann Spicer and view the annual NAACP Exposition
of Talent; and
WHEREAS, on Monday, January 19, 2004, the Twelfth Annual Martin Luther King
Jr Birthday Breakfast will be held at the Loras College Alumni
Center at 7:30 A.M. with Mary Ann Spicer addressing the theme:
“Raising the Bar: Are We Ready?;” and
WHEREAS, Dr. King said “And as we walk, we must make the pledge that we
shall always march ahead. We cannot turn back.”
NOW THEREFORE, I, TERRANCE M. DUGGAN, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF

DUBUQUE, IOWA DO HEREBY PROCLAIM SUNDAY, JANUARY 18 AND
MONDAY, JANUARY 19, 2004 AS:
“DAYS OF GREAT CELEBRATION IN HONOR OF
MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR.”
AND URGE ALL CITIZENS TO JOIN IN KEEPING HIS DREAM ALIVE BY JOINING
