Minutes Civil Service 11 5 03CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION Date: Wednesday, November 5, 2003 Time: 6:40 p.m. Place of Meeting: Five Flags Ballroom Present: Chairperson Mede Duehr, Commissioner Loras Kluesner; Commissioner Dick Wertzberger Also Present: Personnel Manager Randy Peck; Police Chief Klm Wadding; Information Services Manager Chds Kohlmann Establish Passing Point and Certify List for Position of law Enforcement User Support Specialist Wertzberger moved to receive and file the communication from Personnel Manager Randy Peck and Police Chief Klm Wadding and to establish the passing score at 70%. Seconded by Kluesner, passed unanimously. Wertzberger moved that the list for the position of Law Enforcement User Support Specialist be certified as read. Seconded by Kluesner, passed unanimously. = Elect Chairperson Kluesner moved that Dick Wertzberger be nominated as Chairperson. Seconded by Duehr, passed unanimously. Request from Brian Odefy to Discuss His Timely Application for the Equipment Operator I Test Brian Odefy explained that when the position of Equipment Operator I was posted on October 13, 2003, he planned to sign up for the Civil Service exam when he completed work that day. However, he was notified that his wife was having medical problems with her pregnancy and he left work to go to the hospital. His newborn son spent the next week in the Intensive Care Department and, therefore, Brian stated he missed the deadline for signing up for the exam. His request was that he be allowed to take the Equipment Operator I test which was scheduled for November 13, 2003. Wertzberger moved to allow Mr. Odefy to take the Equipment Operator I test, and also to go on record that this was not normal practice and cannot be considered a precedent for future requests. Seconded by Kluesner, passed unanimously. There being no further business, Wertzberger moved to adjourn. Seconded by Kluesner.
