Request from Brian Odefy to Discuss His Timely Application for the Equipment
Operator I Test
Brian Odefy explained that when the position of Equipment Operator I was posted on
October 13, 2003, he planned to sign up for the Civil Service exam when he completed
work that day. However, he was notified that his wife was having medical problems
with her pregnancy and he left work to go to the hospital. His newborn son spent the
next week in the Intensive Care Department and, therefore, Brian stated he missed the
deadline for signing up for the exam. His request was that he be allowed to take the
Equipment Operator I test which was scheduled for November 13, 2003.
Wertzberger moved to allow Mr. Odefy to take the Equipment Operator I test, and also
to go on record that this was not normal practice and cannot be considered a precedent
for future requests. Seconded by Kluesner, passed unanimously.
There being no further business, Wertzberger moved to adjourn. Seconded by Kluesner.
