SUBJECT: Grand River Center logo award
On February 3, 2003, the City Council approved the recommendation to hire
McCullough Creative Group and created a Logo Design Committee consisting of
Platinum Hospitality CEO Jim Rix, Dubuque Area Chamber of Commerce Convention &
Visitors Bureau Director Sue Czeshinski, Public Information Officer Susan Gwiasda and
Assistant City Manager Cindy Steinhauser. They worked with McCullough Creative
Group to develop a colored logo for the Grand River Center. This logo design was
approved by the City Council in April 2003.
Recently McCullough Creative Group entered the logo into the Elements of
Advertising/Logo category of the local American Advertising Federation advertising
competition, commonly known as the Addy Awards. This logo design took first place in
this category. The Logo Design Committee would like to present the award to the City
of Dubuque.

Discussion
On December 16, 2002 a Request for Proposals (RFP) was sent to local design firms to
solicit their bids for the design of the identity package for the Grand River Center. On
February 3, 2003, the City Council approved the recommendation to hire McCullough
Creative Group and a logo design committee consisting of Jim Rix from Platinum
Hospitality, Sue Czeshinski of the Dubuque Convention and Visitors Bureau, Public
Information Officer Susan Gwiasda and myself worked with McCullough Creative Group
to develop a colored logo for the Grand River Center. The logo design was then
approved by the City Council in April 2003.
Recently McCullough Creative Group entered the logo into the Elements of
Advertising/Logo category of the local American Advertising Federation advertising
competition, commonly known as the Addy Awards. This logo design took first place in
this category. Attached is a letter from Jack McCullough of McCullough Creative Group
presenting the city of Dubuque with the Addy Award.
