From: North End Neighborhood Association
On behalf of the North End Neighborhood Association, this
letter is to say thank you for the combined efforts of the
above mentioned individuals and departments that made
possible the FEMA decision to accept the revised flood map
created by the City of Dubuque's consultant CDM.
Many north end residents and others attended the meeting last
year at the Dubuque County Fairgrounds to discuss the flood map
Issue with FEMA. The City of Dubuque residents, whose
properties were in question, were greatly supported by City officials.
The concerns of these residents were echoed in a letter read by
Mayor Buol. We recognize that there were many homeowners who
sent letters that were very helpful.
Laura Carstens spoke to the North End Neighborhood Association
last August to give us an update and answer questions on the flood
map issue. It was apparent that Laura was very passionate about
saving the 1,600 homes that were in jeopardy.
In closing, again, we want to express our appreciation for the
outcome of this issue and for the support from the City of Dubuque
personnel who were instrumental in making this happen.
Respectfully,
Audrey Morey, Secretary- Treasurer
North End Neighborhood Association
