Introduction
The purpose of this memorandum is to request approval of the sale of a lot located at
346 E. 19 street to Kevin L. and Becky M. Lightfoot as part of the renovation project
located at 1896 Washington Street.
Discussion
The Housing Department purchased a vacant, derelict building adjacent, at the rear of a
home at 1896 Washington and had it removed. This acquisition was approved by the
City Council in December 2006. The lot will provide necessary green space for the
property located at 1896 Washington Street, previously owned by DB &T Corporation
and sold to the Lightfoots as 1 Time Homeowners in June 2010.
Action Requested
The action requested of the City Council is to approve the attached resolution,
authorizing the sale of the vacant lot at 346 E. 11 Street to Kevin L. and Becky M.
Lightfoot.
RESOLUTION NO. 62-11
A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE SALE OF REAL ESTATE LOCATED AT
346 E. 19 STREET, IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE.
WHEREAS, the City acquired the property at 346 E. 19 Street for the purpose
of its redevelopment for owner - occupied housing; and
WHEREAS, such purpose supports the Washington Neighborhood revitalization
strategy as approved by the City Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF DUBUQUE, IOWA:
Section 1. That the City of Dubuque hereby approves the sale of the following
legally- described property:
North % of Lot 97, except the West 57'6" thereof, in East Dubuque, in the City of
Dubuque, Iowa, according to the recorded plat thereof
At the cost of One dollar ($1.00).
Section 2. That the City be and is hereby authorized to provide a Special
Warranty Deed to the buyer, conveying the City's interest to Kevin L. and Becky M.
Lightfoot for the herein described real estate.
• Section 3. That the City Clerk be and she is hereby authorized and directed to
cause said Special Warranty Deed to be recorded in the Office of the Dubuque County
Recorder, together with certified copy of the Resolution.
Section 4. That the City Clerk be and she is hereby directed to forward a copy
of this Resolution to the Dubuque County Assessor and the Dubuque County Auditor.
