SUBJECT: Napier Street Storm and Sanitary Sewer Reconstruction Project
Public Works Director Mike Koch is recommending acceptance of the Napier Street
Storm and Sanitary Sewer Reconstruction Project, as completed by Fondell Excavating,
in the final contract amount of $100,631.22.
I concur with the recommendation and respectfully request Mayor and City Council
approval.

SUBJECT: Napier Street Storm and Sanitary Sewer Reconstruction Project
INTRODUCTION
The attached resolutions provide for the acceptance of the construction contract for the
Napier Street Storm and Sanitary Sewer Reconstruction Project.
DISCUSSION
The existing sanitary sewer that serves homes on Napier Street was increased in size
to an 8-inch diameter and laid at a steeper slope. The storm sewer was replaced and
the catch basins improved.
Fondell Excavating of Dubuque, Iowa, has completed the project with a final contract
amount of $100,631.22.
RECOMMENDATION
I recommend that the City Council adopt the attached resolutions accepting the
improvements and establishing a final contract amount of $100,631.22.

(CIP 010582) and a Fiscal Year 2002 Sanitary Sewer Construction Fund appropriation

The City Council is requested to adopt the attached resolutions accepting the
improvement and establishing the final contract amount for the Napier Street Storm and
Sanitary Sewer Reconstruction Project.

RESOLUTION NO. 146-04
ACCEPTING IMPROVEMENT
Whereas, the contract for the Napier Street Storm and Sanitary Sewer
Reconstruction Project has been completed and the City Manager has examined
the work and filed his certificate stating that the same has been completed
according to the terms of the contract, plans and specifications and recommends
its acceptance.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA:
Section 1. That the recommendation of the City Manager be approved
and that said improvement be and the same is hereby accepted.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Treasurer be and he is hereby
directed to.pay to the contractor from the Fiscal Year 2002 General Fund and the
Fiscal Year 2002 Sanitary Sewer Construction Fund in amount equal to the
amount of his. contract, less any retained percentage provided for therein.

RESOLUTION NO. 147-04
FINAL ESTIMATE
Whereas, the contract for the Napier Street Storm and Sanitary Sewer
Reconstruction Project has been completed and the City Engineer has submitted
his final estimate showing the cost thereof including the cost of estimates, notices
and inspection and all miscellaneous costs.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA:
Section 1. That the cost of said improvement. is hereby determined to
be $104,339.22 and the said amount shall be paid from the Fis.cal Year 2002
General Fund and the Fiscal Year 2002 Sanitary Sewer Construction Fund of the
City of Dubuque, Iowa.
