PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, on Saturday, May 17, 2004, the citizens of Dubuque are invited to the
Dubuque Arboretum and Botanical Gardens to celebrate Arbor Day;
and
WHEREAS, we recognize and applaud "Trees Forever" on their 15 year
anniversary and for the significant impact this organization has had
promoting Trees within the State of Iowa; and
WHEREAS, we recognize that trees contribute to our quality of life and resolve to
plant and replace them so that they and their many benefits can be
enjoyed for generations to come; and
WHEREAS, being responsible tree stewards we resolve to provide the necessary
care and maintenance required of trees growing in the urban
landscape; and
WHEREAS, we resolve to protect existing trees from the people pressure
diseases we inflict upon them and defend them from the several
invasive species knocking at our door.
NOW THEREFORE, I, TERRANCE M. DUGGAN, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF
DUBUQUE, IOWA, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM SATURDAY, MAY 17, 2004 AS:
"ARBOR DA V"
IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have
hereunto set my hand and caused the
